We know latex clothes are expensive, and we know the amount of care you need to take with them, so, are there any alternatives that look the same and are just as good?
Well, no, but let’s see why.
We’re not saying anything against any item, manufacturer or material, and you may personally like any or all of them, and that’s fine. We are just comparing it to many people’s number one choice.
PVC
Yes it’s shiny and black, or other colours, and it can even be transparent (we love completely clear pvc). Yes, it is a good deal cheaper than the equivalent latex item.
Many shops that sell latex wear do have pvc items. In the UK and probably elsewhere there are specialist suppliers like PVC-U-LIKE.
So, what are the disadvantages?
It is very shiny and looks, er plastic. Our experience, with items from many suppliers, is that the pieces are stitched, the stitching is obvious and a potential weak point. Is it clingy? Well, yes, if you get hot it will stick to your body. Removing the item can be difficult and can cause damage. PVC is not really a stretchy item and getting a close and comfortable fit may be hard.
